DANVILLE — Ronald D. Balsley, 82, passed away on Dec. 28, 2012, at the Danville Veterans Affairs hospital.

Ron was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Danville, to Merle H. and Lola A. Balsley.

He married Katie Ann Harper on Nov. 6, 1951, and together they had five children, Kevin (Lauren) Balsley, Gregory (Sara) Balsley, Susan (Dave) Daniels, Julie (George) Gehring and Philip (Gisela) Balsley.

A memorial service for Ron Balsley will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at the Danville VA Chapel in Danville. The Rev. Chuck Strebin will be officiating, with military honors performed by the American Legion Post 210.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Ron’s name to the Boy Scouts of America or the Vermilion County Museum Society.

Following the service, there will be a reception at the Wolf Creek Golf Club in Danville. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, is in charge of arrangements.
