Ramona I. Strawser

DANVILLE — Ramona I. Strawser, 61, of Danville, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital’s emergency room.

She was born Feb. 16, 1951, in Danville, the daughter of David E. and Jean (Maines) Abernathy.

Ramona attended Rabb School and graduated from Covington High School. She had been a resident of Danville since 1978, and former resident of Galesburg and Covington, Ind.

She was employed by KFC 20 years before retiring in 2008.

Ramona enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing bingo, Facebook, Rabb School reunions, eating at Red Lobster with her brother Gary and sister-in-law Pam, her many conversations with her cousin Shirley and friend Fran, and her dog, Buddy.

Surviving are two daughters, Melissa (Bill) Roberts of Sheridan, Ind., and Brandi (Chris Spear) Moss of West Lebanon, Ind.; two brothers, Gary (Pam) Abernathy and Jim (Connie) Abernathy, both of Veedersburg, Ind.; four grandchildren, Ryan (Carithium) Strawser of Woodstock, Ga., Rodney Guthrie and Pvt. Drew Gutherie, both of Danville, and Abrianna Spear of West Lebanon; and two great-grandchildren, Jade and Ryker.

Her parents and a son, Lance Cpl. Rodney Lee Strawser, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. EST Friday, Jan. 18, at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Paul Kent officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
