Carol Faye Goin

ROSSVILLE — Carol Faye Goin, 76, of Rossville, passed away at 11:48 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center.

Carol was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Alvin, daughter of Oliver B. Pettice and Ethel “Jack” (Irvin) Pettice.

Carol married Roy J. Goin Jr. on Dec. 21, 1955, in Rossville. He survives in Rossville.

She also is survived by one son, James (Angie) Goin of Rossville; three daughters, Crystal (Robert) Bruner of Rossville, Robin Goin and Dennis Thomas of Hoopeston and Jeri Galyen of Rossville; three sisters, LaDonna (Richard) Johnson of Fruitland, Fla., Jean (Robert) Lete of Alvin, and Audry (Butch) Overlander of Alvin; one brother-in-law, Ralph (Judy) Goin of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbie Jo Pettice; one brother, Carl “Speed” Pettice; and one sister-in-law, Vera Pettice.

When Carol married Roy, she was a Navy wife, stationed with her husband in Jacksonville, Fla., and Portsmouth, Va. Upon returning to Illinois, she became a nurse’s aide, working at Danville Care Nursing Home and Danville Manor. She later worked at the Fife and Drum Shop in Rossville until its closing.

Carol enjoyed helping with the Special Olympics at the Danville Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed playing bunco, walking, reading and watching the Cubs with her husband. Carol also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. A graveside service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating.

Memorial donations may be given to donor’s choice.
