Angel May McCoy

DANVILLE — Angel May McCoy, 79, of Danville, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main, Danville, with the Rev. Ted Pracz officiating. Parish wake services will be at 1:30 p.m. with visitation from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Pape Funeral Home. Burial: Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials: Holy Family Church or Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.

Angel was born Feb. 5, 1933, in Danville, to Sedrick Orlea and Pearl Laticia Harrier VanCamp Sr.

She attended Bismarck Grade School and high school with the Class of 1950. She graduated Danville Area Community College in 1981 with a licensed practical nurse degree. She had been an LPN at Danville Correctional Center, Danville Veterans Affairs hospital, Lake View Memorial Hospital and with Home Health Care from 1981-2000.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and UAW General Motors retiree. She was involved in one of the early Garden Walks sponsored by the Master Gardeners. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Angel married James William “Paps” McCoy on June 13, 1953, in Champaign, and he preceded her Aug. 22, 2003.

Survivors: six children, Kasandra “Kasi” (Bob) Mitchell, Ellen (Len IV) Burton, Richard “Rick” (Juanita) McCoy, Donna Marie McCoy, Jana (Michael) Schupp and Dennis (Mary) McCoy; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack B. VanCamp; and a sister, Patricia Krasovich.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband; her son, James William McCoy; a sister, Jacqueline VanCamp; and a brother, Cedrick VanCamp.
