James “Jimbo” Richard Roberts Sr.

DANVILLE — James “Jimbo” Richard Roberts Sr., 45, was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ at 7:44 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, from Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Jimbo was born Aug. 19, 1967, in Danville. The youngest boy out of seven kids, he was always known as a wild child and the center of attention. He loved to talk to anyone and everyone and was truly always talkin’ somebody’s ear off.

He has always loved riding motorcycles and loved everything loud and fast. NASCAR, NHRA drag racing, and Harley-Davidsons are some of his favorites, along with, of course, Badd Chevs and the Big Ole Petes for life.

He loved to sing and listen to music, especially 1980s rock ’n roll and all country music. He introduced all of us kids to music and its profound power and beauty, something that has truly defined who we all are and always will. We all love to make music too, and especially play the drums, just like Dad. He truly knew the words to almost every song on the radio.

He has been a truck driver for over 15 years and has driven close to 2 million miles. He’s told us kids he’s witnessed more sunrises and sunsets than probably anyone we will ever meet. He’s also said he’s lived an amazing and full life and had more fun than many people who have lived 100 years. He always said he’s a lucky man and the happiest, proudest Dad and Papaw Bobo to have the four greatest kids and grandbaby in the world.

He loved camping and fishing and always living life to the fullest. He truly saw the good in everybody and especially enjoyed playing with children. Most of all, he loved spending time with his four children: Jimmy Jr., Lindsey Marie, Jesse Dylan and Jeremy Bryce and grandbaby Kaecyn Nevaeh, “Baby Loves.”

He’s survived by his four children: Jimmy Jr., Lindsey, Jesse and Jeremy, and his granddaughter, Kaecyn Nevaeh Munsterman; his father, James Alvin Roberts; sisters, Debbie (Mike) Doggett and Laurie (David) Murphy; brothers: George Goelz, Terry Goelz (fiancé: Misty), Bill Walser, Randy Walser (Mary); and many, many nieces, nephews and amazing friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarahann D. Roberts; big brother Ricky Walser; and nephews, Seth and Will Meers.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday at The Rock Church in Danville, followed by a humble prayer service and celebration of Jimbo’s life with Pastor Bill Hummer officiating as we honor our brother and father on his journey to the Promised Land. Private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery next to his mother at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his children’s names. Thank you and God bless. 10-4, driver. Peace, love, happiness. We love you, Papabear!

Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory in Tilton is assisting the family.
