Izel Irene (Foster) Riggs

DANVILLE — Izel Irene (Foster) Riggs, 83, of Danville, went home to be with her Lord on Feb. 14, 2013, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.

Izel was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Jamestown, Ky., the daughter of William and Mollie (Chrisman) Foster.

She married JT Riggs June 18, 1948, in Elizabethtown, Ky. He survives.

She will be dearly missed by her sons, Joe (Kathy) Riggs of Danville, and Ron (Debbie) Riggs of Alvin; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Clark of Georgetown, Kathy Knapp of Tokyo, Japan, Megan (Casey) Hardesty of Farmer City, and Nathan Riggs of Bloomington; her great-grandchildren, Tristan and Kylie Knapp of Tokyo, Japan, Owen and Ethan Clark of Georgetown, and Tray, Presley, Drake and Brooklyn Hardesty of Farmer City; her sister Rosa (RV) Stephens of Russell Springs, Ky.; her brother, William (Rosie) Foster of Dewitt; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Virlan; one sister, Della; and her grandson Seth.

She was a member of Danville Evangelical Church. Izel was a loving homemaker, and she dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joys of her life.

She will be remembered as a woman of great faith and as a prayer warrior. She will be missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

A celebration of Izel’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration home, in Danville, with the Rev. Bryan Sampson officiating. A visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made in Izel’s name to Danville Evangelical Church.
