Margaret (Marge Hoggatt) Davis, 83, formerly of Perrysville, Ind., and a resident of Danville, Ill., for one month, passed away at 7:36 a.m. CST Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
She was born March 18, 1926, in Crab Orchard, Ky., the daughter of the late Charles and Sally Hounschell Hoskins. She first married Everett Hoggatt on Oct. 27, 1956, in Danville. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1994. She later married John Davis on Aug. 29, 1999, in Veedersburg, Ind. He survives.
Other survivors include one stepdaughter, Joan (Rev. Kenneth) Green of Crawfordsville, Ind.; one step-son, Harold (Karen) Davis of Terre Haute, Ind.; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sarah Rost and Louise Pospisil, both of St. Cloud, Fla., Juanita (Curtis) Gordon and Lora Stanley, both of New Albany, Ind.; two brothers, Lawrence Hoskins of Crab Orchard, Ky., and Warren Curtis (Mila) Hoskins of Memphis, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Lottie Hoskins of Salem, Ill., and Hazel Hoskins of Crab Orchard, Ky.; special friend, Mariann Martin of Covington, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Margaret was a former deputy matron at the Fountain County Jail for three years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Veedersburg Church of God. Margaret enjoyed cooking, crocheting and her church family.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Ind. Officiating: Pastor David Wickens. Burial: Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, Ill.
