She married Climmie Timms in 1954. He preceded her in death in January 1986. Mrs. Timms attended nursing school in Chicago and earned her licensed practical nursing degree in 1957. She worked nine years as a special duty nurse. In 1970, she was employed at Northside Veterans Hospital and in 1978, transferred to the Veterans Administration hospital in Danville. This move was to be near her mother.

She attended Midwest Baptist Bible College in Danville, where she earned an associate of theology degree in 1994.
Mrs. Timms was a faithful member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and served in her quiet way, cheerfully and willingly, in various capacities whenever she was needed. She was a loyal member of the Lilly of the Valley Missionary Society at Greater Shiloh. She also was a member of the Laura Lee Fellowship House and served as a committed member of the Jolly Senior Citizens Club at this facility.
Mrs. Timms’ favorite hobbies were studying the word of God, working outside in her yard, gardening and crocheting. She also was a great neighbor. Her favorite songs were “Take Your Burdens to the Lord and Leave Them There” and “Peace in the Valley.” She will be greatly missed at Greater Shiloh and in the community.
