Ralph Kelly Clark

Ralph Kelly Clark, 83, of Covington, Ind., died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in the VA Illiana Health Care Systems, Danville. He was born April 16, 1926, at Stone Bluff, Ind., the son of Ralph Edwin and Marie Sutton Clark.

He moved to Covington from Stone Bluff in 1940, was a 1944 graduate of Covington High School and a World War II Army veteran in Europe. He was a typesetter and printer having worked at R & S, Illinois Printing, Journal & Courier, News Gazette and retiring from the Commercial-News in 1991. His memberships include Perrysville United Methodist Church, Walter Hoyt Post 350 American Legion, Post 2395 VFW serving as chaplain for several years, and 60 years singing with the Danville Barbershop Chorus of SPEBSQSA.

Kelly married Wilma Jean Auter, Jan. 11, 1953, in Covington. She died June 5, 1993. Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Scott (Patsy Jane) Clark of Danville; two step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Williams of Danville and Michelle Perry of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; three brothers, Robert Clark of Oklahoma City, William Clark of Heflen, Ala., and James (Sharlene) Clark of Danville; two sisters, Susan (Jerry) Grady and Janet Clark, both of Covington; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Snyder of Fishers, Ind., and Cheryl Brooks of Covington; and several nieces and nephews. His parents and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Shelby Funeral Home with Chaplain Paul Witt officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW and American Legion. Memorials may be given to VA Recreation Service with envelopes available at Shelby Funeral Home.
