ERVIN C. MACK

FAIRMOUNT — Ervin C. Mack, 94, of rural Fairmount, passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville.

He was born April 10, 1915, in Newport, Ind., to Oliver and Hattie Ataline Jennings Mack. Ervin married Lena Moretto on Nov. 4, 1939; she passed away on Dec. 12, 1987. They had one son, Charles Ervin Mack; he passed away on Dec. 16, 1967. Ervin later married Margaret McVey on Oct. 16, 1988; she passed away on March 26, 2003.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Dana McVey; one grandson, Thomas Mack (Annette) Goble of Westville; one great-grandson, Grayson Goble; many nieces and nephews, as well as Howard and Shirley Goble, with whom he celebrated his life and holidays.

Ervin worked for several years at the General Motors Tilton foundry. He enjoyed his little farm, fishing and hunting, mushroom hunting, gardening and especially giving his produce away. Ervin enjoyed his Muncie Baptist Church friends.

He was the last of his family, preceded by five brothers and one sister. Ervin enjoyed the music at Colonial Manor, often leading the singing or singing by himself. He was a member of the Catlin Masonic Lodge and 32nd Degree Mason. He will be especially missed by Karen Richter, Virginia Samanske, Pansy Smith and John Ervin Campbell. Every November Ervin went deer hunting with his “buddy” Fred Nelson. Ervin shot his last deer at age 90.

Funeral services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at the Muncie Baptist Church with the Rev. David Garver to officiate. Burial: Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Muncie Baptist Church with Masonic rites at 12:45 p.m.
