Thomas Earl ‘Tom’ Wynn, 71, of Danville, went to be home with the Lord at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Provena USMC in Danville. Mr. Wynn was born on March 4, 1938, in Danville, the son of Mr. George Wynn and Mrs. Laureen (Kidd) Wynn.
Tom was married to Judith Thoma. She passed in 2004. From this marriage were two daughters, Jennifer White of Indianapolis and Denise (Doug) Ahrens of Danville.
On Aug. 5, 1975, Tom married Ms. Annette Verhoeven. She survives along with her son, Shane Allan Wynn (Cassandra Parker) of Oakwood; Tom’s son, Thomas David Wynn of Bloomington; three stepchildren: Richard Snider of Danville, Donna (Denny) Spencer of Danville and Diane (Kim) Frohock of Georgetown; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his two brothers, William ‘Bill’ (Joanie) Wynn and Donald (Sharon) Wynn, both of Danville; and one sister, Cathy Acree of Texas, all survive Tom.
His parents and one infant son, Bradley Wynn, precede Tom in death.
Tom’s love was working on the railroad for Norfolk Southern until his retirement at the age of 60. He kept that passion burning by collecting model train sets and antiques. Tom also enjoyed photography. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of the life of Thomas Wynn will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with Pastor James Cooper officiating. Burial will take place at Oakhill Cemetery following the service. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at the funeral home.
