ANNIE MAE CARTER


Annie Mae Carter, 92, of Danville, passed this life Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.

Annie was born May 17, 1917, in Hazelhurst, Miss., to Henry and Annie Stamps O’Quinn.

Annie was a member of the An-tioch Baptist Church, where she served as a church mother and a former member of the senior choir. Her hobbies included gardening, shopping and traveling.

Annie was married to Samuel Carter; he preceded her in death May 4, 1979. To their union, she was blessed with three sons, LeRoy (Janis) Carter of Danville, Bishop Samuel (Jeanette) Carter of Spring-field and Eddie C. Stamps of Hazel-hurst; three daughters, Ethel Jones, Dorothy Carter and Ann (Bishop James) Farr, all of Danville; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, a great-grandson and her step-mother, Sadie O’Quinn.

A Home Going celebration will commence at noon Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Antioch Baptist Church, 311 N. Collett St., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating: Pastor Lucius Barber. Interment: Spring Hill Ceme-tery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
