Barbara June Parry

Barbara June Parry, known to family and friends as “Pat,” passed away on Dec. 15, 2009, in Blue Springs, Mo., at the home of her stepson, George Parry. She was lovingly cared for by all her stepchildren during the last years of her life.

She was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Danville, Ill., to James Martin Lynch and Helen Genevive Olson Lynch.

Pat was a graduate of Westville High School. For many years she was the executive secretary for the director’s office at the Danville VA Medical Center until her retirement in 1987. Among her professional accomplishments, she served as president of the National Secretarial Association.

Pat was an avid golfer, an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Danville and loved to travel with her husband, Ralph, visiting grandchildren across the country. She was a committed Christian who showed Christ’s love to all who knew her.

In 1977, she married Ralph Parry, who preceded her in death in 1995. She was previously married to Joseph McFadden.

She is survived by her adopted daughter, Marjorie Spencer of California; four stepsons, John (Rita) Parry of Wethersfield, Conn., George (Jan) Parry of Blue Springs, Mo., Robert (Shari) Parry of Mabank, Texas, and David (Joellyn) Parry of Sterling, Va.; and one stepdaughter, Charlotte (Nick) Waynelovich of Turners Falls, Ma. She also is survived by 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by four sisters, Gladys (Ralph) Sullivan of Westville, Ill., Marlene (James) Smith of Cottonwood, Calif., Eleanor (Bob) Vredenburg of Danville and Helen (Talmer) Bates of Westville; and one brother, James (Beverley) Lynch of Peel, Ark.

A memorial service officiated by her stepson, Rev. Robert Parry, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Danville with interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C., 20090.
