BISMARCK — Harold Loy Hassler, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at his home in Bismarck.

He was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Reelsville, Ind., to Glenn O. and Pearl Leona Schroer Hassler.

Harold graduated from Reelsville High School before marrying his wife, Betty Boyce Hassler, in 1951.

Harold worked as a merchandising specialist and enjoyed gardening, making candy and helping other people.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Geneva O’Conner and Louise Gray; and brothers, Donald E. and Gilbert Hassler.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Boyce Hassler, Bismarck; son, Mike (Carrie) Hassler, Cypress, Texas; daughters, Karen (Harold) Davis of Terre Haute, Ind., and Kathy Engel of Ladson, S.C.; brothers, Richard (Maxine) Hassler of Lake Placid, Fla., and Julian (Sue) Hassler of Danville, Ind.; grandchildren, Christopher Engel, Jennifer Wieckowski, Amanda Engel, Michelle Kefauver, Kira Newsom, Brian Davis and Logan Davis; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Faith Kefauver, John Preston Kefauver III, Matthew Wieckowski, Nehemiah Newsom and Elizabeth Wieckowski.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil, Ind., with private burial to follow at Brown Cemetery in Center Point, Ind. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carle Hospice, 206A W. Anthony Dr., Champaign, IL 61822.
