Thomas “Tom” Lutz Sr.

DANVILLE — On March 6, 2013, at 12:17 p.m. Thomas “Tom” Lutz Sr. left us. He was on life support for two weeks at Provena Covenant in Champaign before passing.

He was born March 17, 1935, in Benwood, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by a twin sister, Elizabeth; his mother; father; a son, John Lutz; and his grandparents.

He is survived by a wife, Shirley Lutz; two children, Thomas Lutz Jr. and Tina Warren, of Danville. He has a brother, Robert (Doris) Lutz, of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; grandchildren, Anna Parlby, Joy Hills, Danny Hills, Elizabeth Lutz, Kenneth Weston, Cathleen Clawson, Alice Lutz, Cody Lutz and Maryann Lutz. He had a handful of nieces and nephews, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He worked at the Veterans Affairs hospital after an honorable discharge from the Army, then retired as a security guard from KIK.

He loved going to flea markets, playing bingo and spending time with his wife and cat.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System chapel. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. in Danville National Cemetery

Flowers and donations can be sent to Sunset Funeral Home on Vermilion Street in Danville.
