Dale W. Leigh, 46, of Danville, passed away at 8:04 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
He was born on May 17, 1964, in Danville to Virginia Gordon Leigh and John W. Leigh.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Leigh; father and stepmother, John and Louada Leigh; a daughter, Kristen Leigh of Rantoul; three brothers, Marty Leigh, Johnny Leigh and Billy (Wendy) Leigh, all of Danville; two sisters, Sherry (Henry) Place of Montezuma, Ind., and Sheila (Brett) Arnette of Gibson City, Ill.; two half-brothers, Bobby Cotton and Wesley Leigh, both of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Dale loved NASCAR racing and barbecuing. He also enjoyed gardening and was known for his tomatoes. He will be sadly missed by his mother, whom he cared for greatly.
A service to celebrate the life of Dale Leigh will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Pastor Raymond Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Atherton Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will take place 9-10 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home on Friday. Memorials may be made to the family.
