DANVILLE — Ruth Alice Firebaugh, 92, of Danville, went to be with the Lord at 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at her home.

Ruth was born on July 4, 1920, to Thomas and Mabel (Lee) Acree in Danville.

She married the love of her life, Dale Firebaugh, on July 8, 1939, in Urbana. They were together for 73 years. He survives.

Other survivors include her daughters, Margo Lee Firebaugh of Danville and Cathy Suzan (Robert D.) Morgan of Paris; grandchildren, Tanya (John) Dollar of Coatesville, Pa., Eric (Luann) Snyder of Akron, Pa., Kim (Ken) Kistler of Valley Forge, Pa., Carrie (Bradley) Collier of Paris, and Samantha Morgan of Paris; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Acree Tipton; and brothers Thomas and Robert Acree.

A graduate of Danville High School, Ruth devoted her life to her family and was known by her daughters as the World’s Best Mom. An artist at heart, Ruth made the world around her more beautiful through her crafts, including her painted pottery and prize-winning Christmas Door Decorations.

Always happy to spend time in the sun, she enjoyed vacationing by the ocean, feeding the birds outside her home and, above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As per her wishes, there will be a private celebration of Ruth’s life at the Sunset Funeral Home in Danville with entombment in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made in Ruth’s name to the Carle Hospice program. Condolences may be left at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
