DANVILLE — Wayne A. Sandlin, 56, of Danville, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Wayne was born Aug. 17, 1956, in Danville, the son of Wayne H. and Janice (Shanks) Sandlin.

He married Kathy Main on Feb. 5, 1990, in Danville. She survives.

He is survived by four sons, Chad Sandlin of Georgetown, Wayne Sandlin of Danville, Johnathan Williams of South Carolina and Ricky Sandlin of Danville; one daughter, Danielle (Sean) Root of Ohio; three sisters, Loretta “Sis” Sandlin of Danville, Jeanne (Gary) Askren of Westville and Janice “Reasty” Sandlin of Danville; one sister-in-law, Crystal (Steve) Powell of Henning; eight grandchildren, Tony, Selena, Mya, Hunter, Jon, Ashley, Mary and Alaney; and two great-grandchildren, Ariel and Chloe. Wayne had three special friends, Tony (Rosena) Stimac and Joanna Gourley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley Sandlin; and one sister, Teresa Sandlin.

Wayne was a people person, working as a cashier. He loved the interaction with children at the Vineyard Church and being with his family, especially his dog, Ringo. He was a Bears fan, Cubs fan and enjoyed watching the birds and the TV.

A graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, with Jay Sorrell officiating. The family encourages you to wear a shirt of your favorite NFL team in Wayne’s memory.

Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to his family for help with funeral expenses.
