DANVILLE — William Anthony Custer, 62, of Kingman, Ind., formerly of Danville, passed away at 10 p.m. EDT Oct. 8, 2012, at his home.

Bill was born Nov. 23, 1949, in Peoria to Laverne Payne (Strange) and Kenneth Raymond Custer.

He is survived by one son, Joe (Crystal) Custer of Anderson, Ind.; one daughter, Jessica (Darnell) Johnson of Danville; three grandchildren, Armanii, Blaiz and Cooper; and several nieces, nephews and friends whom he held dear to his heart.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Bill entered the Army in August 1969 and served as an equipment storage specialist in Vietnam May 1970 to April 1971. Bill was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War. He earned the rank of specialist 4th class and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

A celebration of Bill’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Pape Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the National Cemetery in Danville.
