James Joseph Falconio

DANVILLE — James Joseph Falconio, 78, of Danville, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at home.

He was born July 6, 1934 in Danville, a son of Henry Louis and Mary Marietta Falconio.

He married Mary Alice Reid on April 19, 1958, at the former St. Patrick’s Church in Danville. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, James Reid (Mary K) Falconio of Carlyle, Margaret Alice Falconio (Thomas) West of Round Lake, Mary Elizabeth “Izzy” Falconio of Danville, and Timothy Michael (Robin) Falconio of Chicago; grandchildren, Anthony James (Heather) Falconio, Joseph Reid (Jenna) Falconio, Michael Donald Falconio (special friend, Emily Tebbe), Alexander Reid West, Charles Henry West, Ella Reid Falconio and Kiley Louise Falconio; a great-grandson, Mason Reid Falconio; a sister-in-law, Mickey (Tom) Doan, of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Henry L. (Mary) Falconio, of Westville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Paul D. Falconio; and a brother-in-law, Alan C. Reid.

Jim was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, BPOE 332, Lift Truck Builder’s Union and Grain Miller’s Union.

He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed Chicago Bears and Schlarman Hilltoppers football.

Jim graduated from Schlarman High School in 1952. He worked at Hyster and later at Quaker Oats. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 at Fort Huchuca, Ariz.

Mass of Christian burial will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Fr. Ted Pracz officiating. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Following funeral services, he will be cremated at his request. Private burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery Friday, Nov. 2, with military rites by American Legion Post 210.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Building Fund or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
