Gary “Bugs” Franklin

DANVILLE — Gary “Bugs” Franklin, 54, of Danville and formerly of Hoopeston, passed away after his long battle with cancer at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1956, in Danville, Ill., to Delmar and Geneva (Boils) Franklin.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Linne) Rothery; his son, Daniel Franklin both of Danville; and two grandchildren, Drew Rothery and Miley Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry “VI” Franklin.

He will be greatly missed by his soul mate, Cindy Klinkow, and her two sons, Rick and Ryan, who he loved as his own.

Comfort Inn of Danville employed Gary for the last three years. He enjoyed his job and thought of the staff as family.

He owned Bugs’ Body Shop for years and a garage was still his favorite place to hang out. Gary loved spending time with his Uncle Russell, gardening and watching NASCAR.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Franklin will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston. The Rev. Janet Eggleston will officiate. Visitation for Mr. Franklin will be noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, 309 E. Washington St. in Hoopeston.
