PERRYSVILLE, Ind. — Arnold R. Rayphole, 93, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Digby House in Lafayette, Ind.

He was born Oct. 13, 1916, at Yeddo, Ind., the son of the late Robert and Opal Bonebrake Rayphole.

He was a Covington resident most of his life, had lived the last few years in Perrysville and moved to Lafayette in March.

He graduated from Kingman High School and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

Arnold was a member of Stringtown Church of God, Past Master of Yeddo Lodge 636 F & A M, and a member of Local 841 Operating Engineers. He operated heavy equipment at Morgan Coal Mine, Indiana State Highway, Interstate Sand & Gravel and construction for 30 years.

Arnold married Phyllis E. Shumaker on Oct. 5, 1935. She died May 10, 1961. He married Lola L. Prather on Dec. 3, 1961, in Danville. She died June 16, 2005.

Surviving is a son, Michael (Sue) Rayphole of Cypress, Texas; two grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Rayphole of Houston, Texas, and Jennifer Kirkpatrick of Corpus Christi, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Morgan and Nathan Rayphole, and Sara and Abby Kirkpatrick.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, Sept. 11, at Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Klossner officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday with Masonic services at 6:45 p.m.
