DANVILLE — Arthur A. Johnson, 79, of Danville, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at his home.

Arthur was born April 15, 1933, in Milford, the son of Arthur L. and Bertha Opal Lehigh Johnson.

He married Virginia A. Downing on April 24, 1953, in Catlin, and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2002. He later married Verna McGehee on Sept. 27, 2012. She survives along with her three children and their families.

He also is survived by his daughter, Jeanie Johnson of Buffalo Grove; his son, Terry Johnson of Watseka; his daughter-in-law, Kim Johnson of Lebanon, Ind.; his grandchildren, Erik (Christine) Johnson of Indianapolis, and Anne Johnson of Watseka; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tim Johnson; one daughter, Mary Jane Johnson; one brother; and one sister.

Mr. Johnson served in the Army and was a member of Stockland United Methodist Church and Hoopeston American Legion.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at Stockland United Methodist Church. Pastor Doug McCord will officiate. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland, with military graveside rites by the Hoopeston American Legion Post 384.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Iroquois County Relay For Life.
