Rosemary (Jackson) Hall

DANVILLE — Rosemary (Jackson) Hall, beloved wife and mother, finished her work here on earth Feb. 13, 2013, at Provena Covenant Hospital, Champaign.

Rosemary was born Aug. 27, 1935, in Danville.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Cora (Withers) Harris; father, Baskin Jackson; and stepfathers, Howard Dinkins and Robert Harris.

Rosemary married Eddie Hall Feb. 16, 1961.

She leaves behind four children, Cora (Johnny) Cook of San Antonio, Texas, Alicia (Leonard) Wallace of Indianapolis, Kayann (David) Benson of Atlanta, Ga., and Kevin (Tameka) Hall of Danville. She also leaves three stepchildren, Lamont and Linda Hall of Danville, and Lawrence (Michelle) Hall of Ohio; an adopted son, Edmondo Moxey, Bahamas; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a special cousin (daughter), Sarah Isaac; and a host of relatives and friends.

Rosemary graduated from Danville High School in 1953. She also attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich., majoring in music. She worked as a Head Start teacher then worked at the Veterans Affairs hospital, where she retired as a nurse’s assistant.

She was a devoted wife, committed mother and grandmother. Rosemary was the minister of music, directing choirs at Shiloh, Union Baptist, the Wood River Baptist District Convention, the Danville Black Community Choir and the Carter Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church, where she was a member. She was a member of Golden Rod Chapter 55 O.E.S. She was a Past Worthy Matron and formerly served as grand officer for Eureka Grand Chapter.

Rosemary was an avid sports fan, especially loving football and track and field. She loved flowers, angels, music and had an immense passion for reading!

Home going celebration will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at St. James Methodist Church, 504 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Visitation: one hour prior to service. Viewing will be from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 17, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville, Pastor Roland Brown, CME, and Pastor Michael Hall officiating. Interment will follow services at Spring Hill Cemetery.
