DANVILLE — Thomas Charles Unekis, 71, of Danville, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville.

He was born July 18, 1940, in Danville, a son of Michael Charles and Luella Deliska Rhodenbaugh Unekis.

He is survived by two brothers, John (Mary) Unekis of Columbia, S.C., and Bill (Lisa) Unekis of Danville; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Mr. Unekis worked for Hall Freight Lines in Danville until moving to California. He was a bank accounts manager for Wells Fargo Bank in California. After returning to Danville, he worked as a security guard at NAACO.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an honorary member of the Korean War Veterans. He enjoyed flea markets, reading and cars.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Dennis O’Riley officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the Korean War Veterans. Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Korean War Veterans. Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
