Warren L. Cundiff, 72, of Covington, Ind., passed away on March 28, 2010, at Provena USMC, Danville.
Warren was born Aug. 21, 1937, in Covington, Ind., the son of Russell and Lillian (Wilcoxen) Cundiff.
He married Sheila B. Lilley on June 5, 1960, at St. James United Methodist Church in Danville. She survives along with three children: Kelly (Jerry Smith) Cundiff of Henning, Ill., Kevin Robert Cundiff of Covington, Ind., and Marla K. (Brent) Myers of Noblesville, Ind.; two grandchildren, Trevor Robert and Kylie Lilleyanne Myers; sisters, Ruby Holmes of Henderson, Nev., and Phyllis Hutchison of Rolla, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Dot Cundiff; six nieces; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Karl Cundiff, sister Marje Jackson, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Lillian Lilly.
Warren was a 1955 graduate of Perrysville High School and had farmed all of his life. In addition to farming, he worked for Olins for 15 years and later retired from Bunge Milling after 30 years of service as an electrician.
Warren loved planting and working in the garden, and enjoyed the fruits of his labor by making homemade rhubarb and peach cobblers, selling at the Covington farmers market and canning and freezing everything; his delicious creamy tomato soup, Trevor’s special peach jam; and Kylie’s strawberry jam.
He especially enjoyed meeting his fellow high school classmates at the Beef House, who have supported him in every way. He also enjoyed watching the Cubs with his good right arm, his son Kevin; and loved spending time and playing games with his two very special grandchildren.
A Celebration of Warren’s Life will be at 2 p.m. CDT Thursday, April 1, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, with Pastor Phil Jackson officiating.
