Mildred Pauline Scarce

CHAMPAIGN — Mildred Pauline Scarce, 82, of Champaign, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at her home.

Mildred was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Danville to A. Faye and Katie (Garey) Hines. She attended Danville grade schools and Danville High School.

Mildred was a homemaker for many years, and later held positions in retail and was a school cook at Oaklawn Elementary. She enjoyed playing pool, bingo and cards, as well as spending time with her close friends and family. Mildred enjoyed being a big part of her grandchildren’s lives, attending all of their concerts, sporting events, and other activities.

Mildred married William John Scarce on Sept. 1, 1946, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1967.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine Scarce and Laura (Jimmie) Kinney; a son, Paul (Sandy) Scarce; three grandchildren, Brandon (Stephanie) Kinney, Samantha Mowry and Kimberly Mowry; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Olivia and Alayna Kinney; and a sister, Doris Knight.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Donna Knight; and a brother-in-law.
