WESTVILLE —
Mrs. Rheta Ritter was called home to the Lord at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010. She passed in the loving arms of her husband, Frank and niece, Sondra.
Rheta was born on Feb. 26, 1934, in (Midway) Georgetown. Rheta was the daughter of Andrew and Viola Hires Krainock. She married George Rousseau, together they had two surviving daughters, Debbie (Rick) Prentice of Danville and Lisa Stewart of Rockville, Ind., he preceded her in death. She later married Jerald Ottino, he also preceded her. In March 2005, Rheta married her lifelong friend Frank Ritter, he survives.
Rheta is also survived by a sister, Sue (Malcom) Metcalf of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Pete (Marjorie) Krainock of Danville; stepsister, Sally Wynn of Danville; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Jim) Britton of Danville; stepchildren, Vickie Sue Storm of Calhoun, Tenn., Lex (Carla) Ritter of Kelleen, Texas, Cary (Roseann) Ritter of San Antonio, Fla., Jerald R. Ottino Jr. and Cheryl Joyce Foley; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Rheta had a very special friend that she loved as her own daughter, Kim William of Catlin (her personal hair dresser that even came to Rheta’s house to fix her hair and nails to the very end). Also a good friend, Valerie Delva of Westville.
She was a member of the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Post 51 of Westville. She formerly worked for Continental Filling and both Rheta and Frank always looked forward to their monthly dinners, as she remained close with the former employees from there. Rheta loved to play bingo, watch Frank garden and loved watching the hummingbirds in their feeders. She had two very special dogs that she loved dearly and brought her great joy, Petey and GiGi. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and visiting the salon. She loved going for rides with her beloved Frank. Rheta was loved by all who knew her and she touched so many lives. Rheta recently was reassured of her salvation with Jesus Christ as her personal savior.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Norma (Harry) Anderson, Barbara and brothers, Joseph and Calvin Krainock. The family would like to thank the caring people of Carle Hospice for their kindness and respect through this rough time and wish that all memorials be made to Carle Hospice Center.
Per Rheta’s wishes she was cremated and will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, with Pastor Scott McCurdy officiating. The Robison Chapel in Catlin is serving the Ritter family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.robisonchapel.com.
