Darrell Lee Glines

ST. JOSEPH — Darrell Lee Glines, 41, of St. Joseph and formerly of Potomac, passed this life suddenly Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, in Hoopeston.

He was born Jan. 2, 1969, in Danville, the son of Jerry Glines and Connie (Matthews).

Darrell will be sadly missed by his father, Jerry (Julie) Glines of Danville; his mother, Connie Shavez of Danville; one son, Corey Nimrick of Potomac; his three daughters, Courtney Glines of Oakwood, Candice Glines of Oakwood and Kursten Glines of Potomac. His brother, Gene (Jeannie) Glines of Potomac; his three sisters, Carrie (Ron) Warren of Rankin, Angie (Warren) Nibbe of Rossville and Valarie Glines of Rankin; several of his nieces, and nephews; his best friend and co-worker, Barry Steele; a nephew, Mike Glines; Sandra Whitaker whom he called, “Mom”; and everyone else whom he loved dearly also survive him. His grandparents preceded Darrell in death.

Darrell was a 1988 graduate from Rossville High school. He worked at Mervis Industries in Danville as a heavy equipment operator. He touched the lives of all he came into contact with and will be remembered most for his sense of humor, his calmness and the love he had for all.

He loved horses, playing softball, fishing and driving in local demolition derbies. Darrell is now in Heaven’s gate and in the Lord’s company.

A celebration of the life of Darrell Lee Glines will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, with interment to follow at Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be noon until services on Thursday at the funeral home.

The Glines family has set up a trust in lieu of flowers c/o Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center for Darrell’s three daughters. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
