DANVILLE —
Patricia Deanne Duncan Shelato passed away to be with our Lord at 11:22 a.m. on Nov. 6 at her home.
She was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Danville, daughter of James and Edith Duncan.
She married Jack Richard Shelato Sept. 15, 1951, at Central Christian Church in Danville. He survives.
Also surviving are her son, Phil (wife, Ginger) Shelato; and two grandchildren, Parker (Jen) and Philip (Mary); daughter-in-law, Judy Shelato; and two grandchildren, Jill and Jaime (Kim) Shelato; nephew, Terry (Ruth Ann) Brown; and great-niece, Kris Brown; beloved sister-in-law, Helen (William) Pentecost; and family friend, Allen Greenlee.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jeanne Duncan Brown; and her beloved son, James D. Shelato.
Patricia attended Roselawn Grade School and graduated from Danville High School in 1948. She attended Milliken College in Decatur and graduated from Purdue University in 1952. She belonged to the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Patricia was a member of Central Christian Church and was a homemaker who adored her family and friends. She was a past officer of the Lake View Medical Center Auxiliary, where she was chairman of promotion and publicity of the Decorator’s Show House. She also was chairman for talent for the Cargee Production of the Women’s Follies; past president of the Danville Salvation Army Auxiliary; participated on the United Way Committee; a member of the Danville Country Club; and a member of the Women’s Golf Association. Patricia was an active member of the Danville Red Cross, delivered Meals on Wheels and was an election judge.
She loved to read, play bridge, play golf, garden, sew, shop and travel. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, with Pastor DeAnn Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Pape’s. Entombment will be in Sunset Mausoleum.
