Beatrice O. Hunter

DANVILLE — Beatrice O. Hunter, 79 years old, of Danville, passed this life Nov. 10, 2012, into the hands of Jesus, and in the presence of her son, Larry; brothers, John and Clifford Buford; parents, Helen (Shultz) and John Buford; she leaves sisters and a brother, Orville Buford, Sylvia Gibson, Phyllis Cunningham, Janet Bell, Marilyn Howard, Dorothy Buford; and a host of two generations of loving nieces and nephews.

Beatrice was born April 27, 1933, in Danville to John and Helena Shultz Buford.

She married Ellis in 1951. Together they raised six children, Minister Suzanne Hunter (Mark) Brown, Ellis (Gwendolyn) Hunter, Larry (Jo Marilyn) Hunter, Ms. Sharon Hunter, Pastor Darrell (Minister Margret) Hunter and  Ronald (Henrietta) Hunter. From them are 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In her house she has other children: Calvin Bailey, during his high school years. Along with him is Joseph Hill and Greg Orrington. All continue to have a special relationship. Then came Mark, Eric and Luther. In between them was Aunt Aretta in her later years.

There is a room in her house and her heart for all who needed her and Ellis.

Beatrice worked as cook for the Vermilion County Public Safety Building and retired. Cooking was her passion. As a member of New Life Church of Faith she worked as chief of hospitality. In the last year she served as mother of the church at “The Mind of Christ” where her son is pastor.

Beatrice leaves this life to walk with God and to claim her home, which she has been promised and has been told by God the location.

Beatrice was known for her home decorating and cooking in which she was good at both.

A celebration of life will commence at noon Friday, Nov. 16, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A public viewing will commence from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville. Officiating: Pastor Thomas W. Miller. Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery.
