Robert “Bob” David Link Sr.

DANVILLE — Robert “Bob” David Link Sr., 76, of Danville, went to meet his heavenly Father at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton.

Robert was born July 28, 1936, in Paxton, the son of Arlie and Dorothy (Foster) Link.

On June 5, 1992, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline (Streuer) Foster at the New Start Gospel Center in Tilton. She survives.

Also surviving are six children from two previous marriages, Robert Jr. (Tish) Link of Alvin, Rick (Kathy) Link of Hillery, Debra (Kevin) Grant of Fairmount, Curtis (Sonya) Link of Peoria, Jeff (Dianne) Link of Westville and Robert Joseph (Lola) Winters of Danville; and one very special stepdaughter, Camille (Wesley) Sciscoe of Solsberry, Ind. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard (Nancy) Foster of Leiters Ford, Ind., and Donald Ray McNeese of Georgia; one sister, Dorothy (Larry) Montgomery of Phoenix, Ariz.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Bonnie, Nellie, Donna Jean and Carolyn Sue.

Robert loved reading his Bible and playing Christian music on his guitar with his wife by his side playing the organ.

Robert was employed for the Champaign News-Gazette and Thrifty Nickel until his health deteriorated.

A celebration of Robert’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville, with the Rev. Kenneth Young officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made in Robert’s name to the American Cancer Society.
