George J. Youhas

DANVILLE — George J. Youhas, 57, of Danville, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

He was born March 7, 1955, in Danville. On May 1, 1982, George married Debra Spiralke in Danville. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2012.

He is survived by three children, Jennifer (Tom) Allsopp of Danville, James (Lacey) Youhas of Danville, and Kimberly Youhas of Danville. His seven grandchildren, Jordan, Gil, Jillian, Ava Grace, Isaiah, Eliza and Ezekiel; three sisters, Maria Krieger of Westville, Lisa Youhas of Danville and Christine (John) Wonderlin of Danville; and one brother, John Youhas of Westville, also survive him.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, George R. and Mary Youhas; and a daughter, Jessica Marie.

George was a graduate of Westville High School and retired from Heatcraft. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and was an Eagle Scout.

He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, visiting the ocean and especially enjoyed attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren and spending time with friends and family.

George always made sure that his children and his faith in Jesus came first. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A Catholic Mass and celebration of life service for George Youhas is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Danville, with entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville, with a public rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Please join George’s family in sharing memories, photos, and videos of his life through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
