BARTONVILLE —
Helen C. Endsley, 80, of Bartonville, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Danville. She was the daughter of Charles and Pauline (Terry) Vacketta.
She married Norman T. Endsley July 18, 1953, in Westville; and Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, ended a 60-year love affair between Helen and Norm.
Helen is survived by her husband, Norm; two sons, Steve (Paula) Endsley of Normal and David (Lori) Endsley of Bloomington. One daughter-in-law survives, Cindy Endsley of Clarendon Hills. Helen has seven grandchildren, Derek, Jamie, Melissa, Justin, Maria, Scott and Laura Endsley. She also is survived by one sister, Karen (Harold) Balent of Lebanon, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy, and one son, Terry.
Helen graduated from Eastern Illinois University with honors in 1953. She was a cheerleader and football greeter while in college. She received her Master of Science degree from Illinois State University and was named Graduate Business Student of the Year.
She was an original member of the Femmes Unir Club in Bartonville. Helen was a business teacher and a member of the first faculty at Limestone High School from 1953-1955 and from 1965-1975. She then taught business at East Peoria High School from 1975-1989. After retirement, she worked several years at the Alzheimer’s Association in Peoria.
Helen always placed others first. She was a very caring and loving individual, especially to her husband, children, grandchildren and sister. Her students always had a special place in her heart. She enjoyed teaching, mentoring and growing her students.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all her caregivers and care facilities that assisted Helen and her family during this time, and especially Stephanie Mathews and Marti Williamson.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, 2525 W. Skyway Rd, Bartonville, where Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Father David Heinz will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the church, with a scripture and eulogy service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive guests after the graveside services back at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall for food and fellowship on Saturday.
