HOOPESTON — David Allen Cornelius, 59, of Hoopeston, passed away surrounded by his family at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at his home in Hoopeston.

He was born Jan. 29, 1953, in Paxton, the son of George and Shirley (Boehme) Cornelius.

He married DiAnna Longfellow on May 23, 1987, in Cissna Park. She survives in Hoopeston.

He also is survived by his mother, Shirley Cornelius of Hoopeston; one daughter, Megan (Mike) Gagnon of Danville; one son, Scott Cornelius of Hoopeston; two sisters, Vickie (Bill) Misner of Hoopeston and Peggy Pajor of Danville; two grandchildren, Bodyn and Maya Gagnon; one niece; and six nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Cornelius.

Dave worked for Food Machinery Corporation in Hoopeston for 32 years. He later worked for Bunge Milling Inc. in Danville. He was currently employed by Greene Galvanized Stairs in East Lynn. Dave was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman who enjoyed bow hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his two grandkids.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday Dec. 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
