DANVILLE — Robert Vinton Hageman, 97, of Danville, died at 4:33 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at his home.

Services will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams, Danville, with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Pape’s. Burial will be in Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville, Ind.

Memorials may be made to Salt Fork Football Program, Jamaica High School, c/o Chris Hodge, 7087 N. 600 East Road, Sidell, IL 61876.

Bob was born Nov. 20, 1915, in Danville to Robert Carl and Mayme Mahorney Hageman.

He attended McKinley and Washington grade schools and graduated from Danville High School in 1933.

He had worked as a rural mail carrier with the Danville Post Office from 1938-1977. He had owned and operated Shephard’s Garage with Paul Hageman and Don Lind at 37-39 N. Walnut, where their motto was “Let Us Baby Your Buggy.”

He was a founder and active member of Vermilion Heights Methodist Church. He enjoyed model Lionel trains. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob married Agnes Adeline Allen on Nov. 25, 1942, in Lebanon, Ind., and she preceded him March 17, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Robert (Linda) Hageman Jr. and Dan (Donna) Hageman; five grandchildren, Justin Robert Hageman, Ashley Allison Brown, Angela Marie Hageman, Joseph (Jennifer) Hageman and Douglas (Jessica) Hageman; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Holly and Mallory Hageman, Adeline and Leyton Brown, Evan, Payton and Jordan Hageman and Jacey and Hayden Hageman.

He was preceded by his parents; a brother, Paul Everett; and three sisters, Erma, Rose Delores and Nelle.
