Robert E. “Butch” Cole, 70, of Danville, passed away at 8:14 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville.

Butch was born Oct. 8, 1942, to Olen Louis and Minnie (Gay) Cole in Danville.

Butch is survived by his brother, Gary R. Cole; sisters, Linda L. Pribble, Marion K. (Steve) Chasteen, Gail L. (Bob) Nelson and Vickie J. Pagson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis E. Cole; and nephews, Daren K. West, Chris A. Pribble and Ronald J. Pribble.

A former student of Oakwood High School, Butch served his country with honor from 1962 to 1967. After leaving the Army, he went to work for General Motors as a foundry operator until his retirement in 1993. Butch enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time at the American Legion hall.

As per Butch’s wishes he is to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Rob Caudill officiating and a private family burial at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 210. A short hour-long visitation will be held prior to the service at 9 a.m.

Memorials may be made in Butch’s name to the Provena Cancer Center.
