Betty Mae Weidenburner

OCOEE, Fla. — Betty Mae Weidenburner, 87, of Ocoee, Fla., formerly of Danville, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee.

She was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Kankakee, the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle Berryman.

After graduating from Bismarck High School, she worked at Mosser’s Shoe Store in Danville. Betty also worked at Sears, Eisner’s and retired in 1985 from Jewel/Osco.

On Feb. 24, 1946, she married Albert Weidenburner, who preceded her in death.

Betty loved her family and attended her grandchildren’s many athletic events, concerts, plays, even parades. She loved playing cards, Scrabble and Quiddler with family and friends.

Her faith in God was very important to her. She was a past longtime member of Second Church of Christ and Northland Church of Christ.

Betty is survived by her children, Pam (Leland) Tapscott, Karen (Mike) Weber and Mary (David) Jett; her grandchildren, Kim (Rich) Berggren, Jim (Nicole) Tapscott, Steve (Brandie) Tapscott, Kara (Bill) Seller, Marci (Matt) Gehrke, Ann (Rob) Thomson, Beth Jett (Julio Ortiz), and Kari (Tony) Miller; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Tapscott, Annabelle Berggren, Olivia and Sydnie Tapscott, Peyton, Calista and Landon Seiler, Natalie and Samantha Gehrke, Audrey Thomson, and Andrew and Rylee Miller.

A service to celebrate the life of Betty Weidenburner will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Drew Mentzer of the Second Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday, also at Sunset in Danville.
