HINDSBORO —
Michael (Mike) A. Simpson, Hindsboro, is now living in heaven, united with his beloved dog, Goldie, and his friend Dewayne on Feb. 9, 2013.
Graveside funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Camargo Cemetery, with the Rev. Nicholas Showalter officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Joines Funeral Home, Illinois Route 130 South, Villa Grove.
Mike was born April 10, 1962, to Sandy Parrish (Simpson) and William Simpson in Jamaica.
He attended Jamaica Grade School for grades 1 through 3, then Fairmount Grade School. He graduated from Jamaica Consolidated High School in 1980, enjoying in his younger years, hunting, fishing and helping his dad farm the land.
After graduation, Mike worked with his dad farming and did miscellaneous odd jobs throughout the Fairmount area. After helping build the Frito-Lay plant in Sidney, he went to driving school and became an over-the-road trucker working with his dad.
Mike married his high school sweetheart, Libby Davis. He later married Gale Tender, becoming a dad to his lovely daughters, Jessica and Jennifer. As life moved on, Mike married Kim Cox and received the blessing of his only son, Steven.
Later, God blessed Mike with both his calling and the one true love of his life, Cindy Daniell (Rhoads). They married and moved to Hindsboro. Cindy’s children, Kevin and Misty, completed the family circle, and together they opened the Stumble In Pub and Grub. Mike’s heart and loving personality were made for public enjoyment, and the public, in turn, loved Mike. Cindy had her loving, lifelong partner, and we all got to see the real Mike and his bigger than life heart.
Although his beloved retriever Goldie left him a few years ago, he found Maddie, another retriever, who will miss her dad terribly. Mike could always be counted on to share his wonderful stories and laughter each Christmas and Thanksgiving with those who were less fortunate or alone by having a dinner available for them to share, complete with friends at his Stumble In.
He was preceded in passing by his father, William C. Simpson. In addition to his children, he leaves behind his sister, Melanie; his loving mother, Sandy Simpson/Bradfield; his confidant and stepfather, Rex Bradfield; and his devoted, loving wife and best friend, Cindy.
We are terribly saddened by the loss. We were most blessed to have had Mike in our lives, and now the sky is brighter with one new star.
Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
