INDIANAPOLIS — Leslie “Les” Dean Neufeld, 73, of Indianapolis and formerly of Danville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born in Howard, Kan., the son of Edward and Lydia (Becker) Neufeld on June 28, 1939.

He was united in marriage to Cyndie Dianne Catuhe on Oct. 12, 1985, in Indianapolis. She survives.

He also is survived by his sons, Michael (Cheri) Neufeld of Danville, Ind., and Krispin Neufeld of Indianapolis; his daughters, Sherri (Ricky) Thacker of Manteno, Ill., Julie (Greg) Shepard of Danville, Ill., Christy Martin of Danville, Ill., and Angelique Catuhe of Indianapolis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Richard (Bonnie) Neufeld of Kankakee, Ill., and Ron (Sharon) Neufeld of Decatur, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Leslie Jr.; his son-in-law, Kenny Martin; and his brother, Bobby Neufeld.

Les was a painter. After he retired, he worked as Santa Claus. He enjoyed watching the History and Discovery Science channels. He also enjoyed reading about physics and astrology. He especially loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A celebration of Les’ life will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St, Westville. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1p.m. prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given to the family.
