Sarah Ann Richards

WESTVILLE — Sarah Ann Richards, 89, of Westville, passed away at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at home.

She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Ridge Farm, the daughter of Charles E. and Aura Lee (Baldwin) Abston.

She was united in marriage to Rex W. Richards Sr. on May 3, 1941, in Paris, Ill., until his passing on May 21, 2007.

She is survived by her sons, Jack Richards of Westville and Rex Jr. (Cheryl) Richards of Danville; her daughters, Sally (Bill) Bland of Danville, Peggy Cole of Tampa, Fla., Pamela (Raymond) Hilleary of Danville, Patricia Bostwick of Georgetown, Janet (Bill) Williams of Westville, Vicky (Mike) Cassidy of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lisa (Bill) Unzicker of Danville; her sisters, Hazel O’Bryan of Kentucky, Nina Richardson of Wyoming and Kathleen Lashbrook of Westville; 42 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also will be missed by her little dog, Jimmy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Donald E. Richards Sr.; her daughters, Marylee Richards, Donna Deloris Maskel and Carol Ann Hutchens; her brothers, Robert Abston and Wilbur Baldwin; her sister, Ethel Cook; and two grandsons, Harold Ray Maskel Jr. and Steven Randle Cole.

Sarah was a homemaker who loved her family and grandchildren most of all. She was a member of First Church of Christ of Westville. She enjoyed crocheting, doing word search puzzles and going to the movies.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Sarah’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St., Georgetown, with Bob Cornell officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown.
