Carl Leroy Thornsbrough

DANVILLE — Carl Leroy Thornsbrough, 92, of Danville, passed away at 10 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home of Danville.

Memorials may be made to Bismarck Lions Club.

Carl was born June 18, 1920, in Alvin to Orville and Mable Violet Holycross Thornsbrough.

He attended Daniel, McMillan, Wood grade schools and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1938.

He delivered for Beard Ice Company and was an owner/driver delivering fuel for Country Companies and FS. He had been a member of the Danville Elks 332, Bismarck Fair president, charter member of Bismarck Lions Club and former mayor of Alvin. He enjoyed all sports and especially enjoyed bowling, baseball, basketball, golf and dancing.

He married Betty Jane Aldridge in 1939, and she survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Tom (Ruth) Thornsbrough and Marvin Thornsbrough; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dottie Buckner.

He was preceded by his parents; a brother, Ervil Thornsbrough; and two sisters, Thelma Smith and Mary Ellen Eaton.

He donated his body to the Indiana University Medical Center. There will be no visitation.
