Gordon “Cotton” Harold Bradfield Sr.

OAKWOOD — Gordon “Cotton” Harold Bradfield Sr., 68, of Oakwood, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at his home.

Gordon was born Nov. 9, 1941, in Danville, the son of Benjamin E. and Nora (Crowder) Bradfield.

He married Nancy Lea Hathaway on Dec. 27, 1958, in Danville. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2007.

He is survived by two sons, Gordon “Rocky” (Dalane) Bradfield Jr. of Bismarck and Todd (Cheryl) Bradfield of Danville; one daughter, Ephie (Ken) Quick of Tilton; one daughter-in-law, Tina Bradfield; one half-brother, Al (Cindy) Mitchell; seven grandchildren, David Crain, Samantha (Eric) Fridmanski, Benjamin (Bethany) Bradfield, Alexander Bradfield, Tyler Bradfield, Briar Bradfield and Jade (Susan) Watson; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Timothy Bradfield; and a half-brother, Floyd Sanders.

Gordon served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1968, serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He worked for almost 25 years for Teamster Locals 26 and 710. He was past president and a lifetime member of the Illini Bass Club. He enjoyed going to the casino boat, fishing, smoking and complaining.

A Celebration of life visitation for Gordon “Cotton” Harold Bradfield Sr. will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home.
