CATLIN — Frank E. Adams, 89, prominent area educator, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at the Champaign-Urbana Regional Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Sharpsville, Ind., to Joe and Artie Huckstep Adams.

Frank married Mary Etta Wyrick on June 26, 1945, in Kokomo, Ind. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a small family gathering.

Mary Etta survives, as well as two daughters, Janice (Stephen) Buckman of Iowa City, Iowa, and Judy (Garry) Henthorn of Champaign; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Frank was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Frank served in the U.S. Navy. He was principal of the Henry schools and later at Fairmount-Jamaica schools during the consolidation. He also taught for 20 years at Danville Junior College in the Communications and Rhetoric Department.

Frank was an active member of the Catlin United Methodist Church, Catlin Lions Club, Rotary International, the American Association of Secondary Teachers and the Association of School Administrators. He also was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. Memorials in Frank’s memory to Catlin United Methodist Church. Robison Chapel of Catlin is serving the Adams family. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.robisonchapel.com.
