COLUMBUS, OHIO —
The DACC men’s basketball team continued its strong start to the season with a 93-89 win over Cincinnati State in the semifinals of the Triton Tip-Off Classic.
The Jaguars would take an early 10-4 lead and would go up 29-16 at one point in the first half, but fouls and turnovers saw DACC down 34-32 at halftime.
DACC would be down by 11 points with nine minutes remaining, but would come back to take the lead for good with 3 minutes, 38 seconds remaining.
“This was one of the crazier games we’ve had in a long time. Our kids showed a tremendous amount of heart and toughness to come back after being down late in the game,” DACC coach Mike Carpenter said. “We have several things to improve on, but we’re off to a great start.”
Evan Blackmon had 20 points for the Jaguars, while Derek Shouse had 18, Kody Tucker had 15, Chris Whitehead had 13 points and seven assists and Mike Ryce added 12.
The Jaguars will play for the championship today against either the host Triton or Owens Technical Community College and will have their home opener Nov. 13 against Lincoln Trail College.
