MONTICELLO —
Michaela Jones had eight points as the Danville High School girls basketball team won its first game under new coach Brian Anderson with a 31-30 win over host Monticello on Thursday at the Blue Star Classic.
Alexus Jimson-Miller, Breanna Keys and Ashley Greene each had six points for the Vikings while Lynette Buggs added four.
The Vikings will continue play in the classic today at St. Thomas More where they will play Bismarck-Henning.

MONTICELLO — Abby Bergman had five points and seven rebounds but the Blue Devils lost to the Chargers at the Blue Star Classic.
“We were playing tough with them and we were down only 12-9 after the first quarter,” Bismarck-Henning coach Mike Stephens said. “But they started extending the pressure and they had a lot of depth.”
Brooke Walsh added five for the Blue Devils.

CHAMPAIGN — Karisma Penn had 29 points and 16 rebounds, but the Illini trailed all game against the Braves at Assembly Hall.
Ivory Crawford had 18 points with three steals for Illinois, while Alexis Smith had 10 points with eight assists and Amber Moore had nine points, four steals and five assists.
The Illini drop to 1-1 for the season and will stay home on Sunday to play Cleveland State at 2 p.m.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. — The Dashers put up 45 shots, but could not get a goal as they were shutout by the Privateers.
Josselin St. Pierre had 32 saves in goal for Danville, who will play 1000 Islands again today.
