MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — With strong hitting and a good pitching performance by Clayton Hicks, the Danville Area Community College baseball team got over the .500 mark on Tuesday with an 8-2 win over North Central Missouri.

It was also the 400th win for DACC coach Tim Bunton, who is starting his 15th season at the helm for the Jaguars.

“We had the best game of the year so far,” Bunton said. “We have been hitting the ball well so far, but we have been up and down with pitching. Clayton pitched a great game and if we get performances like that with our hitting, we can win a lot of games.”

Alex Potter and Patrick Foster each had three hits and two RBI’s for the Jaguars with Blake Wadsworth, Neil Fertig and Riley Howden each getting one RBI. Bobby Hansen had three hits while Fertig and Howden each had two.

DACC is 3-2 and will take the day off today before playing New York’s Ulster and Monroe Community Colleges on Thursday.

Best in GLJHL ready to play this weekend

DANVILLE — For the second straight year, the David S. Palmer Arena will host the Lakes Cup Tournament, where the top four teams in the Great Lakes Junior Hokey League will play for a spot in the USA Hockey Jr. Nationals.

The Teams are the Chicago Huskies, Wisconsin Rampage, Michigan Mountain Cats and Tri-City Icehawks and will start with two games each on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the title game set for Sunday at 1 p.m. The games on Thursday and Friday will start at 5 and 8 p.m. while Saturday’s games will be at 4 and 7 p.m.

Tickets will be $8 for one day and $25 for all games during the weekend. For information, call 918-2995.
