LOCAL ROUNDUP: Storm wins Heritage side of Classic

BROADLANDS — Salt Fork finished up the second day undefeated, taking first place in the Heritage part of the BSN Classic with a 50-31 win over Villa Grove and a 68-59 win over Decatur Lutheran on Friday.

The game against Decatur Lutheran was a game between two teams who have not scored less than 50 points during the Classic and they would not disappoint as the Storm found a way to outscore Decatur Lutheran in each quarter to get the win.

Max Stutsman had a game-high 22 points for Salt Fork, while Alec Dutton had 18, Ross Learnard had 17 and Cole Taylor added 11.

Against Villa Grove, Stutsman had 19 points while Learnard had 14 and Dutton added 12.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm had another rough day at Heritage, losing 58-24 to Shiloh and 49-27 to Villa Grove.

Against Shiloh, Matt Penry led the Buffaloes with seven while Dylan Cosat had four and Chase Hughes added three.

Kyle Coburn had 13 points to lead Georgetown-Ridge Farm against Villa Grove with 13 while Ethan Silva had six, Aaron Scott had four and Hughes added three.

Tri-County Tourney


KANSAS — Westville rebounded from Thursday’s opening loss to Paris with a 51-36 win over Windsor and a 59-46 win over host Tri-County.

Against Windsor, Jeffery Thompson had 13 points for the Tigers, who put the game away with an 18-6 second quarter. Kyle Brazas and Layn White each added 12 while Tanner Cox added eight.

Robert Elliott took control of Westville’s game against Tri-County, scoring 26 points with Brazas scoring 13 and Cox scoring 12.

With the victories, the Tigers will play for third place at 6 p.m. today against Stewardson-Strasburg.

PEORIA —Alexus Jimson-Miller had a game-high 15 points as the Vikings defeated the Hilltoppers at the Peoria Manual Holiday Tournament.

Breanna Keys had 12 points for Danville, who got off to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter and kept it throughout, while Michaela Jones added nine points.

Sydne Bryant led Schlarman with 10 points, while Sierra Bell had nine, Janelle Marion added eight and Sarah Daily and Alexis Rangel each had four.

The Vikings end tournament play today at 11:15 a.m. against Peoria High while the Hilltoppers play at 9:30 a.m. against Lincoln.

LINCOLN — The Vikings had three top finishes as they were 16th as a team after the two-day Lincoln Tournament.

Trae Wilson was the top finisher for Danville, taking second in the 145 pound class with a 12-11 win over Collins’ Daniel Franke and a 9-6 over Canton’s Jake Harris before losing to Niles West’s Nick Yonan in the final.

Javonte Crider lost in the semifinals at 113 but rebounded to defeat Bloomington’s Steven Bradford 6-4 and pinned Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin’s Jeff Christy in 5 minutes, 10 seconds to get third place.

Aaron Weaver ended up in eighth place for Danville.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. — The Dashers took a 3-1 lead after the first period and was able to hold on to beat the Buccaneers for the second straight time.

Henry Coxe, Kevin McCready, Ryan Huggett, Justin Levac, Shawn McNulty and David Lun each had goals for Danville while Huggett and Darick Ste. Marie each had two assists and Lun, Coxe, McCready, Joe Pace, and Oliver Schenk each had one.

Justin Sand had 43 saves for the Dashers, who return home tonight to play the Dayton Demonz at 7:05 p.m.
