LOCAL ROUNDUP: Tigers take down Storm

WESTVILLE — The Salt Fork boys basketball team came into Friday’s game with Westville with the momentum of winning the BSN Classic title.

But in the end, it was the Tigers that stole that momentum with a 41-38 win in Vermilion valley Conference action.

Robert Elliott had 13 points for the Tigers, who were down 33-31 going into a fourth quarter where they would outscore the Storm 10-5, while Jeffery Thompson had 11, Kyle Brazas had 10 and Layn White Added six.

Max Stutsman had a game-high 17 points for Salt Fork, while Ross Learnard had eight and Clayton Fauver added six.

Westville travels to Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Tuesday while the Storm will try to regroup Tuesday against Oakwood.

GEORGETOWN — Chris Hoult had 20 points as the Cardinals defeated the Buffaloes.

Tyler Lunger had eight points for Chrisman, who had a 28-20 lead at halftime, while Tye Bolden had six.

Aaron Scott led Georgetown-Ridge Farm with nine points while Dylan Bina had seven, Tyson Reed had seven and Garrett Martin added six.

The Cardinals will take on Schlarman on Tuesday.

MILFORD — Michael Simmons had 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals as the Hilltoppers got past the Bearcats.

“He is maturing a lot this season,” Schlarman coach Gary Tidwell said about the freshman guard. “He has made a lot of good decision and he is just coming out on his own.”

Austin Calhoun had 15 for the Hilltoppers while Chris Kuchefski had eight points and six rebounds and Maher Samawi also had six rebounds.

Alex Portwood had 18 to lead Milford, while Jeff Cann had 10 and Josh Killion added eight.

The Hilltoppers are 12-5 and will play Cissna Park today while the Bearcats will take on Hoopeston Area on Tuesday.

BISMARCK — Austin Toler had 24 points, including 13 in the first quarter as the Blue Devils beat the Comets.

Andy Bott had 16 points for Bismarck-Henning, who outscored Oakwood 27-5 in the first quarter, while Wilde Garowski had nine and Austin Reinken had seven.

Skyler Slade had 15 points to lead the Comets, while Parker Lee had 10, Davin Miles scored seven and Andrew Curley added six.

Bismarck-Henning will take on Armstrong-Potomac on Tuesday.

HOOPESTON — Brennan Crose had 19 points as the Cornjerkers outscored the Trojans 18-7 in the fourth quarter to break through and get the victory.

Daniel Lawson had 16 points for Hoopeston Area, who was down 29-27 at halftime and 39-36 after the third quarter, while Mason Layden had 10 points.

Wade Rogers led Armstrong-Potomac with 13 points, while Blake Davis had 12, Dentler Loschen had 10 and Shawn Johnson had six.

ARTHUR — Jonathan Garver had 18 points, but no other Knight got to double figures as they lost on the road.

Zane Bumpus, John Martin and Jermaine Brooks each had four points for First Baptist, who drops to 2-4.

WILLAMSPORT, Ind. — Koby Pierce had 25 points as the Mustangs broke past the Patriots in the second half to get the win in Wabash River Conference action.

Ethan Woodrow had 10 points for Fountain Central, who was tied at 23-23 at halftime but outscored Seeger 32-24 in the second half, while Michael Duane had eight, Luke Davenport had seven and Sam Woodrow added six.

Nathan DeVillez had 23 while Jordan Stover added 12 for Seeger , who will travel to South Vermillion today.

The Mustangs are 8-1 and 4-0 in the WRC and will take on Sheridan today.

COVINGTON, Ind. — Jordan Ahrens had 15 points as the Trojans beat South Newton in non-conference action.

Alex Frechette had 13 points for Covington, who had a 23-19 lead at halftime, while Chandler Spring added 12 points.

The Trojans stay at home today to play Riverton Parke in WRC action.

DANVILLE — Darick Ste Marie had a hat trick, but the Dashers could not keep up in the third quarter against the Privateers.

Chris Affinati scored the other goal for Danville with Justin Levac and Shawn McNulty getting three assists each, and David Lun and Kevin McCready each getting one assist.

Kyle McClure had 28 saves in goal for the Dashers, who will play the Privateers against today at 7:05 p.m. at the David S. Palmer Arena.
