Plenty of time to go to Indiana show

DANVILLE — Winter is going to take at least one more run at us but area lakes and ponds have been wide open this week and some anglers are already beginning to fish.

I’m sure the water is going to freeze up once again but the angle of the sun along with early rains and winds will have us fishing early this season.

If you are bored this week or find it too cold to go outside remember the Indianapolis Boat, Sport & Travel Show is in progress this week through Feb. 24 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

Hours for the show will be 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. today and Feb. 24. Monday hours will be 1-9 p.m., Tuesday through Friday hours 3-9 p.m. and Saturday hours will be 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Remember these times are Eastern.

Local businesses are invited to become an exhibitor at the Central Illiana Outdoor Expo coming to the David S. Palmer Arena on Aug. 17-18. Booth spaces are filling up fast. Please do not delay in securing your place.

This event will feature more than 110 booths displaying goods and services that will appeal to all with an interest in hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, boating and other outdoor recreational activities. It is the first of its kind to come to the region in more than two decades and the first ever with such a diverse collection of outdoor sports related exhibitors. It is certain to become the annual must see event leading into the fall hunting seasons.

The Expo will be advertised through regional radio and print. The advertising campaign will begin in July. Ads will be featured in newspapers and on radio stations in larger cities within a 90 mile radius of its Danville location. These cities will include: Danville, Bloomington, Decatur, Springfield, Peoria, Champaign, Urbana and Kankakee in Illinois; Indianapolis, Lafayette, Terre Haute and Crawfordsville in Indiana. It will also be heavily promoted through the use of social media on Facebook, Twitter and over 50 online blogs, forums and chat rooms.

A special Kids Zone will be featured for the youth with an air gun range, archery range, a Hunter Education area and much more.

National television personalities from shows airing on the Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and the Pursuit Channel will appear for speaking engagements and autograph signings.

Act now to become a part of this exciting outdoor event!
